On October 10th The Well Coffee House in Glenpool, Ok opened its doors for a celebration of the completion of preparation. Yes, that is what it is. We have prepared. We have done our research, perfected our menu, hired our staff and partnered with other businesses. We are ready to say “Come!” It is with fear and trepidation that we invite you to come to our place. For we fear, not being good enough. We worry that something will go wrong. We know that we can not do all things but we hope to try to make our customers happy. But most importantly we hope that you feel cared for and considered. I have asked the employees to try and learn people’s names and favorite items. We hope to serve quickly but not to give any appearance of stress. We want people to feel like this is their place and invite their friends. We hope for the things that every new business hopes for I assume. But we take it further because we also want to make a difference in the community. We want to have proceeds so that we can feed hungry children or help someone who is homeless get back on their feet. We want to be a haven of safety that parents can trust with their teenagers. So a Grand Opening is so much more than just saying “Hey, we are here and we want to sell you stuff.” It is an invitation to be in relationship and to connect lives. It is an opportunity to brainstorm on ideas for making a difference in the community as we build community. We feel the world needs places like this. We hope you do too.
