The Pilgrimage Begins!

I am at the airport waiting on my first flight. I wanted to quickly explain what a pilgrimage is.  It is a study tour with a religious focus. I have been reading to prepare for this trip and I will get educational credit for it. We will be staying on a college campus while we are there.   My hope is that as I immerse myself in this experience that it will inspire me in ways that will benefit my community. We will begin with communion and prayer every day. I am really looking forward to this time of spiritual renewal.  Our leader wrote this

“Pilgrims are persons who journey to a sacred place as an act of religious devotion.  Pilgrims seek communion with God and deeper knowledge of themselves through travel and experiencing places made sacred by past events and faithful people.  Pilgrims immerse themselves into the local culture.  They honor the people and traditions of the places they visit.  Pilgrims are expectant people; they expect to see and experience God in people, places and events along the way.”

Arrived exhausted and blurry.  I couldn’t find the people I was trying to meet up with.  Took a train from the airport that I had to wait on for 3 hours and then it took almost another 2 hours to arrive in Salisbury.  But I finally made it.  My new friends and I are going to get something to eat and crash.  The rooms are very nice and the village we are in is beautiful.  It feels a little like stepping back in time.  More soon!
