I was in a store today and they were playing Christmas music. I love Christmas music but I find it offensive when stores start playing it so early to make me purchase things. Somewhere along the way we have stolen the time allotted to being Thankful and have made it all about shopping. I think that if we stopped rushing into Christmas and spent some real time on Thanksgiving, we might actually find the simplicity and joy of the holidays again. We would be saying thank you and noticing all the things we already have rather than focusing on what we want for the next year. We would rejoice in the abundance of our lives instead of noticing all the things that we can not afford.
When we jump into Christmas too early we lose the anticipation of waiting for the sacred event.
