Inked

I have been doing a sermon series for the last few weeks from the book I bought from Cokesbury called “Inked.”  It has been fascinating and thought provoking.  Each week I share stories from people’s lives that are inked on their bodies.  Each of the stories I have used have been deeply personal and moving.  I have been surprised and blessed by the trust others have placed in me to share their story.  I often finish the stories with tears sliding down my cheeks.

I think the most important lesson this book has taught us is that God is the Master Artist and we are the beautiful pieces of art.  So often we live in a world that categorizes and separates people for shallow reasons.  Life is devalued and pain is rampant.  It is nice to remember this intimacy I have with my creator and that it is good.  If only we could reach all the neglected and abused people in the world and convince them with acts of love, patience and kindness that they are also beautiful sacred creations.

This week will be my last sermon from this book.  I hope you will join us for worship celebration!
