As I contemplate this week’s gospel reading, I am struck by the Lord’s Prayer in a new way. I have no memory of ever learning it. We said it in my church and I was there almost weekly. It became a part of my memory from the ritual of repetition.
We live in a world that has starved itself from ritual. During the reformation, the Protestant movement rejected that rituals of the Catholic Church. Families used to honor the ritual of eating dinner together but statistics show that is not the norm anymore.
