The Well: Coffee.Community.Cause.

These last few months I have been working with a group of volunteers to establish a coffee house.  Why? In our area, there are many churches doing wonderful and meaningful ministry.  What the area did not have was a safe place for people to hang out that is drug and alcohol free.  A coffee house seemed like the perfect solution to give Living Water church someplace to gather and reach the community.  In addition, it meets a need that isn’t being met in the area.

Since our area is along highway 75 in southwest Tulsa county, our options for a rental building were very limited.  The wonderful new Tulsa Hills location was just too expensive.  Our best option came unexpectedly when I attended a Church Conference meeting at Will Rogers UMC in Tulsa.  A man, named Mr. Cannon, approached me after hearing that I was looking for a building.  He owns a strip center on mainstreet Glenpool.  We have been very blessed by Mr. Cannon and he has contracted the changes to the building for us to meet our needs.   The building is in walking distance of both the high school and the new Tulsa Community College location.

As a non-profit coffee house, we will function as a real restaurant every day except Sunday.  On Sundays, we will gather for worship as a community and drink free coffee!  We are also considering a Saturday evening worship service and then live music after until 11 pm.   We are hiring a coffee house manager and training volunteer baristas to work shifts.  A portion of the proceeds from our sales will be given back to those in need in our state and community.  When we open, we will be donating to Tornado relief for three months and then the Hungry children backpack program for the next quarter.  Every sale will help others at this coffee house!

I am looking forward to being finished with the construction/permit phase of this project.  We are excited to allow community groups to gather and offer life changing opportunities.  Some of the ideas we have now are English as a Second Language, Financial Peace University classes and Life Tree Cafe. We hope that you will come see us!  If you would like to volunteer in the coffee house, please email me.  We ask for your prayers as we take on this new adventure!
